A Voice for the People

 A Vision for the Future

About Me

Hi, I’m Brennan Scott, and I’m running for Mayor of Hoyt Lakes. Having lived in this beautiful city for most of my life, I am proud to call Hoyt Lakes my home. My fondest memories were made here, and I am committed to ensuring that current and future generations have the same opportunities to make lasting memories.

I attended Mesabi East, where I graduated as class valedictorian, and then pursued my postsecondary education at the University of Minnesota, earning a Bachelor of Science in psychology with highest distinction. After graduation, I returned to Hoyt Lakes, eager to give back to the community that shaped me. In that spirit, I ran for and was elected to the City Council to work toward making our city an even better place to live. However, during my time on the council, I often felt left out of key discussions, and for many, the status quo was good enough. But not for me. I believe Hoyt Lakes deserves more, and as your mayor, I will ensure that every voice is heard and push for the progress our city needs to thrive.

Alongside my work in city government, I’m passionate about serving the people of Hoyt Lakes as both an EMT and a firefighter. These roles mean a lot to me because they allow me to give back to the community in a hands-on, meaningful way. On top of that, I work as a social worker across the Iron Range, where I’m committed to supporting individuals and families who need it most.

Why I'm Running

The reasons I became a firefighter, city councilor, EMT, and social worker are the same reasons I want to serve as your mayor. Simply put, I care about people, and I take great pride in helping others through both good times and bad. I also deeply care about our community and feel a personal responsibility to maintain and improve it. As mayor, I believe I can do just that.

In addition, I'm running because I believe our city leadership needs the qualities I can offer. Hoyt Lakes needs a fair and compassionate leader who values transparency, honesty, and integrity. We need someone who listens to the concerns of all residents and is committed to thoughtful, inclusive decision-making. If these are the qualities you want in your mayor, I humbly ask for your vote on November 5th.
